Helping with the Foundation's research

The Foundation is carrying out policy development projects over the summer. To see how you can help with our research and develop policy recommendations, see the individual projects below:

Innovation and efficiency in care supply

We are hosting two workshops in August for residential and extra care providers (5th August) and domiciliary care providers (6th August) to explore how the care sector can be innovative, dynamic and flexible in responding to older peoples' needs and what, if anything, holds providers back in doing this. Key questions we hope to answer include:

  • In what ways are existing residential and domiciliary care providers responding innovatively and dynamically to care needs? What efficiency gains are they making?
  • What obstacles do providers face in being as innovative and efficient as they would like?
  • How might these obstacles be overcome?

If you currently provide care to older people in either a residential or domiciliary setting, run a care home, extra care facility or domiciliary care agency, and would like to participate in a workshop, please email us or write to us at: Innovation Project, Resolution Foundation, 2 Broomhouse Lane, London SW6 3RD.

For more information, you can download the full invite here.

If you are unable to attend we would still like to hear from you:

  • Do you have information and examples of innovative schemes you run or approaches to care which "think outside the box" in helping meet older peoples' wider needs?
  • Have you improved the efficiency of the running of your care home or agency while maintaining quality services? How did you do it?
  • Do you have any experience of trying to implement schemes and been faced with obstacles? What have they been?
  • How do you think your home or agency could be helped to become more dynamic and/or more efficient? What would you like to see from your Local Authority, Central Government, regulator or third sector for example?

If you have answers to any of these questions, or would like to give us other information and comments you think we might find useful, please contact us as above. We will treat all of your comments as anonymous so please do get in touch!

Navigating the care system

The Foundation is looking into how older people and their families make effective care choices. Key questions we want to address include -

  • Who needs help navigating the care system?
  • What do they need to know?
  • Is the current information and advice sector meeting these needs?
  • How can we address potential gaps?

If you are currently providing information, advice or advocacy to older people and their families regarding long term care or related issues, we would like to hear about your client group, the types of queries you deal with, and your capacity to meet demand. We have designed a questionnaire which you can download below to help you with giving us this information - there's also space on the questionnaire for you to tell us your general thoughts and opinions regarding information and advice in the long term care system.
