Clive Cowdery

Chairman, Resolution Foundation (Commission Chair)

Clive is Chairman of the Resolution Foundation Trustees and Chairman of Resolution Group. He was previously the Chief Executive of Resolution Life Group Limited, a company that he founded in 2003. He was appointed Chairman of Resolution plc in September 2005 following the merger of Britannic Group plc and Resolution Life Group Limited.

Phil Bentley

Managing Director, British Gas

Phil was appointed Managing Director of British Gas in February 2007. Before joining Centrica as Group Finance Director in 2000, he was finance director of UDV Guinness from 1999 and group treasurer and director of risk management of Diageo plc from 1997.

Sir Win Bischoff

Chairman Lloyds Banking Group

Sir Win is chairman is Lloyds Banking Group plc.  He was formerly chairman of Citigroup, where he also served as interim CEO in 2007.  Prior to this he was Group Chief Executive of Schroders plc, Chairman of Citigroup Europe and a member of The Operating Committee of Citigroup Inc.

Mike Brewer

Deputy Director, Institute for Fiscal Studies; from April 2011, Professor, Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of Essex

Mike is Deputy Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies. His research focuses on welfare reform, and the way the tax and benefit system affects families with children. He has taken part in a major evaluation of working families' tax credit and more recently has evaluated the labour market impact of In Work Credit.

Non-executive Chairman, British Land

Chris is Chairman of the London Stock Exchange and Chairman of the British Land Company PLC. He is also a Non-Executive Director of the Qatar Financial Centre Authority and a governor of the London Business School.

Gaby Hinsliff

Gaby Hinsliff, author and former Political Editor, The Observer

Gaby Hinsliff is a writer, blogger and broadcaster on public policy and family life. She was the political editor of The Observer until November 2009. Her journalistic career includes 12 years covering politics for the Observer and, before that, the Daily Mail. She is the author of Used To Be Somebody, a blog about downshifting careers and a regular freelance writer for a variety of national titles.

Paul Johnson

Director, Institute for Fiscal Studies

Paul is Director of the IFS. He was formerly a Research Fellow at the IFS and an Associate of Frontier Economics. From 2004 to 2007 he was director of the public services and growth directorate and Chief micro-economist at HM Treasury, as well as deputy head of the Government Economic Service.

Gavin is Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation. He joined the Foundation in 2010 having previously worked at Number 10 Downing Street where he worked as Deputy Chief of Staff from 2007.

Stephen is Research Director of the Centre for Economic Performance, LSE and Director of the Centre for the Economics of Education. He is also Professor of Economics at University College London.

Julie is Chief Executive of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. She is a graduate nurse and worked in clinical practice before nurse management during which she undertook an MA in Health Services Studies.

Chris Nicholson

Director and Chief Executive, CentreForum

Chris is Director and Chief Executive of CentreForum. Prior to this he worked at KPMG. He led the firm's public sector practice from 2004 to 2008 and served on the global public sector management team. He spent the first five years of his career as a Government economist in the Department of Trade and Industry specialising in regional policy and government assistance to industry.

Frances is the TUC Deputy General Secretary. She has lead responsibility for a wide range of key areas of policy development across the TUC's work including trade union recruitment and organisation, inter-union relations and TUC services to members. Prior to this, Frances headed up the TUC's Organisation and Services Department (OSD) and the TUC's New Unionism project.
