Resolution Foundation Annual Conference 2008

Nick Clegg MP, David Willets MP, and Julie Jones, Chief Executive of the Social Care Institute for Excellence, joined the Resolution Foundation and nearly 100 stakeholders to discuss the issue of “Mapping future care”. The aim of the conference was to launch the Foundation’s new report A to Z: mapping long-term care market, with a presentation of its key findings, and more widely, to discuss the future reform agenda for long-term care of older people with a wide range of stakeholders from public, private and third sector organisations.

The keynote speech by Nick Clegg MP was followed by round table discussions: the delegates at the conference were organised into nine discussion groups, each charged with examining the problems of long-term care, and priorities for reform, from the perspective of a particular group or stakeholder. The plenary session included two short presentations from David Willetts MP, who discussed long-term care from the perspective of an intergenerational contract, and Julie Jones, SCIE CEO, who reflected on the legislative and political context of recent developments in long-term care reform. This was followed by a Q&A session during which delegates were able to ask questions regarding the Deloitte research and any other issues that had been raised during the day.
