Louise Hellem appointed as new Deputy Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation

Today (Monday) the Resolution Foundation has announced that Louise Hellem has been appointed as its new Deputy Chief Executive and will start on 5th January 2027.

Louise is currently Chief Economist at the CBI and a member of its Executive Committee. Before moving into the role Louise was the Director of Economic Policy at the CBI, and led its policy work on tax and regulation, as well as developing its strategy and evidence base for enhancing the competitiveness of the UK’s business environment.

Prior to joining the CBI, Louise spent 13 years at HM Treasury as a member of the Government Economic Service, where she led on a number of different analytical and policy issues, including National Living Wage policy and assessing the economic and distributional impacts of policy measures at fiscal events.

Louise joins at an exciting time for the Resolution Foundation as it builds on its expertise and influence on a range of topics at the heart of UK politics – from easing cost of living pressures, to strengthening economic growth, and reforming how the state delivers key support and services, from disability payments to job support and affordable homes.

Louise will be joining as the Foundation moves into new areas, such as how AI is reshaping the labour market and wider economy, and how policy can influence these shifts.

The Foundation is a think tank dedicated to lifting living standards in the UK, particularly for households on low and middle incomes.

Ruth Curtice, Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation, said:

“We are delighted that Louise is joining us at such an important time for the Foundation. Louise brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge that will help the Foundation as it explores exciting new areas of work – from the impact of AI, to the role of firms and decisions of policy makers – and how they can lift living standards across Britain.”

Louise Hellem, Incoming Deput Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation, said:

“I’m excited to be joining the Resolution Foundation to build on the organisation’s outstanding work. With the world of work changing and the cost of living continuing to put pressure on households, the Foundation’s mission is more important than ever.

“I look forward to working with the team, alongside national and local government and business leaders, to help improve living standards for those on low and middle incomes across the UK.”
