Is Britain working?

The jobs market in a time of crisis

Live interactive webinar.

From the early surge in Universal Credit claims to the sharp drop in employees in HMRC payroll data and redundancies among big name brands on the High Street, there is mounting evidence that Britain is in the midst of a jobs crisis. And with the Job Retention Scheme due to end this October, a significant rise in unemployment may follow. But official measures of unemployment are yet to budge and the speed of this crisis makes understanding developments uniquely hard.

What is actually happening across the UK labour market, and where is it heading in the coming months? How big, and long lasting, might this jobs crisis be, and who is most at risk? And what more should be done about it?

Immediately after the publication of the latest official ONS labour market data, the Resolution Foundation is hosting an interactive webinar to explain what they show and debate these key questions. We will hear from the ONS’ Deputy National Statistician Jonathan Athow, fresh from the publishing those statistics, and from Vidhya Alakeson from Power to Change. Viewers will be able to submit questions to the panel before and during the event.
