London stalling? The past, present and future of our capital’s economy

London is often said to be a different country within the UK, and it’s living standards story differs from the rest of the country too.

How dependent is post-financial crisis London on the City? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the capital’s labour market? How is housing shaping the living standards challenges Londoners face? And who is moving in, and out, of London as its population not only grows, but shifts?

At an event at its Westminster headquarters, the Resolution Foundation presented key findings of a major audit of living standards across London. A panel of experts, including London MPs, Jo Johnson and Rushanara Ali, discussed the findings and what it means for London’s future, before taking part in an audience Q&A.​
