Speakers include Charlie Mayfield, lead of the Keep Britain Working review Register to attend in person or to receive an access link for online viewers. Boosting employment among people with a health condition or disability is a crucial part of this Government’s agenda; from reaching an employment rate of 80 per cent, to reducing economic inactivity and curbing welfare spending. Yet disabled people continue to face barriers to employment. Encouraging employers to go further in hiring and retaining disabled people is key to shifting the dial on this. What more could employers do to improve the recruitment and retention of people with a health condition or disability? What policy changes – from workplace reforms to the benefit system – are needed to encourage employers to do so? What are the risks and trade-offs involved in designing employer incentives, and how can unintended negative consequences be avoided? The Resolution Foundation is hosting an in-person and interactive webinar to debate and answer these questions. Following a presentation of the key highlights from its latest research we will hear from leading experts – including the lead of the Keep Britain Working Review Charlie Mayfield – on how the Government and employers can make meaningful improvements for disabled workers. The event will be open for people to physically attend, alongside being broadcast via YouTube and the Resolution Foundation website. Viewers will be able to submit questions to the panel before and during the event via Slido.
