If you’re heading to the Labour and Conservative Party Conferences, please join us for discussions on how to get Britain working again, and how to reduce emissions while raising living standards. All Resolution Foundation events are within the secure zones of the conferences. Conservative Party Conference How would the Conservatives get Britain working again? Sunday 5th October, 1.00 – 2.30pm Victoria Suite, The Midland Hotel Britain enjoyed a mini jobs boom in the 2010s, but its performance in the 2020s has gone bust. The UK is shedding jobs, while economic inactivity and unemployment are rising – heaping pressure on the public finances and putting family living standards under strain. The UK needs to turn around its labour market performance if it wants to raise incomes and reboot young people’s careers. At this event, we will be joined by Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Helen Whately to explore a Conservatives plan to get Britain working again – from reforming tax, welfare and regulatory systems and creating the right conditions for businesses to thrive. Speakers: Helen Whately MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions | Giles Dilnot, Editor of ConservativeHome | Ruth Curtice, Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation | Lord David Willetts, President of the Resolution Foundation (Chair)
