What a way to make a living: Creating better jobs for Greater Manchester

Employment is rising in Greater Manchester, but the area faces huge challenges if it wants to catch up with and exceed other major city regions. What type of industries does the area need to boost pay and productivity? What can be done to ensure the local workforce benefit from secure, high quality jobs? What can the Mayor do to make Greater Manchester into a shining example of a region that creates prosperity for all?

At a Resolution Foundation event, hosted by cloud technology company UKFast, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham will set out how he wants to develop a new good employer charter for Greater Manchester.

Resolution Foundation analyst Stephen Clarke provided an overview of the employment challenges facing the area, UKFast Marketing Director Kristina McGuirk provided insight into how being a good employer is supporting rapid business growth, and UNISON Regional Secretary Kevan Nelson discussed the role that unions play. There was then an audience Q&A chaired by Resolution Foundation director Torsten Bell.
