Analysis and action on living standards
Housing is fundamental to living standards. It is most families’ largest expense, meaning disposable incomes are highly sensitive to changes in rents or mortgage payments.
Our housing indicators track how housing is affecting living standards in the UK. Drawing on a range of data sources, the indicators below cover housing affordability, quality and supply.
Where possible, we present regional breakdowns to improve understanding of how trends vary across the country. All charts are updated when new data is released, either quarterly or yearly. The data used in each indicator is available to download beneath the charts, but if you would like an additional cut of the data that is not available, please contact Hannah Aldridge.
