Analysis and action on living standards
In this section we explore wealth inequalities between different birth cohorts and generations, how this relates to home ownership, and how it reflects changes in the pensions system. We also look at how wealth patterns vary between men and women.
Total net wealth brings together net property wealth, private pension wealth and net financial wealth. We prefer to measure this at a family unit level (singles or couples, plus any dependent children) and on a per-adult basis, as this best reflects the influence of family size. The data in this section shows how the real value of total net wealth has changed since 2006-08, and how wealth compares across age groups and birth cohorts.

Total net wealth includes net financial wealth, net property wealth and private pension wealth, but excludes physical wealth.
