Please note this will be an online only event. The Government came into office promising to tackle policy uncertainty by limiting major fiscal events to one a year. They failed to deliver this last year, but are determined to deliver a ‘policy free’ Spring Forecast next week. Have they achieved greater policy certainty, or been scuppered by the cost of policy U-turns, public service pressures, major changes in the UK economic outlook, or problems that need fixing before the Autumn Budget? How has the OBR’s economic and fiscal outlook changed since last Autumn? What are the upside and downside risks to economic growth, inflation, unemployment and borrowing? Was the Government right to hold off major policy announcements? And stepping back, what do the latest forecasts tell us about the prospects for lifting living standards across Britain? The Resolution Foundation is hosting an in-person and interactive webinar to debate and answer these questions. Following a presentation of the key highlights from its overnight analysis of the Spring Forecast 2026, we will hear from leading experts – including senior member of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) David Miles – on the health of the UK economy, and what this means for the public and family finances. The event will not be open for people to physically attend, but will instead be broadcast via YouTube and the Resolution Foundation website. Viewers will be able to submit questions to the panel before and during the event via Slido.
