Governments and politicians can have a big effect on housing, for good and for ill. In this basket of indicators we track new housing supply; housing stock relative to the number of families; housing benefit coverage; and Help to Buy sales – all key issues in current housing policy debates.
The total number of dwellings per thousand families in an area is another important metric of housing stock and supply across different areas of the UK. This has important implications for house prices, and trends in investment in housing across the regions.
