Coronanomics: Challenges facing monetary policy makers

The financial crisis led central banks around the world to push interest rates to historic lows and print money in order to purchase assets on a vast scale. Does this mean that central Banks’ policy toolkit is now empty, or do they need to find new tools and strategies? What role should central Banks play as the COVID-19 crisis evolves?

In this webinar, Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee member Silvana Tenreyro will present her thinking on monetary policy during the next phase of the crisis, and we will hear from former MPC member Sushil Wadhwani.

Viewers are able to submit questions to the panel before and during the event.
